About Oregon

The Capital city of Oregon is Salem
Oregon has 97,073 square miles of land or 251,419 square kilometers
As of the 2000 census count, there were 3,421,399 folks who live in, and should be cycling in OregonMt. Hood in Oregon
Portland is a major city of almost 500,000 people, and it is a really cool place to visit. Close to the mountains and the ocean, and lush forests surrounding.
Mt. Hood is one of the several dormant volcanos, and rises to an altitude of 11,239 feet.
Of course, with all of the trees here, one of the major industries is Lumbering. However, they seem to be leaving a lot of trees with great singletrack in between them. Thank you Oregon!

Mt. Hood

On this trip we travel through the Mt. Hood National Forest to the east of the giant peak itself. The singletrack in this forest is famous for a reason. Well-constructed ridge top trails provide you with surprise views of snowy Mt. Hood at regular intervals. Sometimes the peak seems so close you could reach out and touch the snow.

Cascade Lakes

Swooping and zooming singletrack, lower elevations (rarely above 7,000 feet), lakes at each camp, and relatively small climbs for a singletrack trip make this a great choice. The trails are tunnel-like paths through the heavily forested terrain of hemlock and pines. When we do pop out there are lakes to greet us at our lunch spots, at camp, and when you least expect it. Swimming is always an option. The water is refreshing to say the least.
